“She wants me to take what magic I have left and blot every memory of this evening from their minds. To make them forget so that they can carry on as before. There will always be Cecilys, Marthas and Elizabeths of the world - those who cannot bear the burden of the truth. They will drink their tea. Weigh their words. Wear hats against the sun. Squeeze their minds into corsets, lest some errant thought should escape and ruin the smooth illusion they hold of themselves and the world as they like it. It is a luxury, this forgetting. No one will come to take away the things I wish I had not seen, the things I wish I did not know. I shall have to live with them…I do it anyways…But I do not take all their memories from them. I leave them with one small token of the evening: doubt. A feeling that perhaps there is something more. It is nothing more than a seed. Whether it shall grow into something more useful, I cannot say.”

Ever thrown out a pair of Toms because they had a hole in the toe? I thought I’d share this (since it IS a thrifty way to save a pair of shoes!)…I did this to my old Toms a couple of weeks ago and the idea is now being shared in the newsletter and in-store workshops of a local chain of shoe stores here in Atlanta called Abbadabba’s (since my friend’s parents are the owners). I’ve enjoyed my new Toms sandals, so I thought I’d pass it along as a thrifty AND crafty idea for summer! Enjoy :)

I’m totally doing this now

Those look awesome!

Where I went to Today

I realized today that I haven’t been keeping track of where I went/what I explored throughout London so here is a list of the places I explored. They’re all located in the West End.

- The Sussex (Pub; decent atmosphere, odd service)

- The National Theatre (closing night of Misterman; PHENOMENAL show)

- Chewy Junior (a store that JUST SELLS CREAM PUFFS. WHAT.)

- Cupcake Place off of Monmouth Street (can’t remember the name but it was perfect!)

- pop Vintage (sweet vintage/vintage-inspired clothes. Also affordable)

- Scribble (store filled with funny cards/magnets/other paper-related knick-knacks)

- Bella Italia (very good food!)

- Lotus Leaf (affordable, trendy clothing. Love my new pleated maxi skirt!)

- The Book Warehouse (awesome cheap books)

- Costa Coffee (edible but probably wouldn’t go back there)

So many lovely things to discover in this city.

It’s almost fun getting lost…in the daytime that is.

Classes begin today, although mine doesn’t start until 3:30 my time (10:30 East Coast  time). It’s my Theatre class, so I’m pretty excited about it! We’re seeing Misterman tonight, a one-man show starring Cillian Murphy.

I cannot believe this is my life.

So I’m in London

and everything feels like a dream.

I cannot believe I’m seeing the famous images I’ve only seen in photographs in person. Parliament. The London Eye. The Globe. Big Ben. Tower Bridge. The National Theatre. The beauty of this place is astonishing.

I used to think Manhattan was the most beautiful city in the world, but this place beats it ten fold (although I still love you New York). It’s so clean and effortlessly gorgeous.

The people that I have met here are also some of the most beautiful creatures I have met. They each have their own quips that make them unique. It’s fascinating to meet people who are so unlike yourself but at the same time similar (that may be a contradiction but it’s very true).

I cannot wait to see where these next three months take me.
